Austin Robot Roundup Cometh!

The ausTIN CANS will be hosting our 9th annual end of build practice day on Saturday, February 20th. After five weeks of the 2016 build season, we’re proud to share AISD’s brand new Applied Technology Center with other central Texas teams to practice the upcoming Stronghold game on a field with wooden defenses. RSVP by Thursday, February 18th!

FIRST Stronghold is here!

Now that build season is underway, we’re stretching our legs in AISD’s new Applied Technology Center, boasting tons (literally) of new equipment and space. In the thick of brainstorming initial ideas for the 2016 game and interpreting its vast rules, the CANs are buzzing with excitement.

Night of the Robots

Friday October 30, 5:30pm to 9:30pm, will be our first Night of the Robots. Enjoy a Parents Night Out while your kids (K-5th grade) enjoy an evening of Robots: Fun VEX and humanoid robot activities, arts and crafts, games, LEGOs, pizza and the movie Monsters, Inc. $30/child.

Team meeting and training

Saturday October 10, between 12pm and 4pm will be our second full team meeting – mandatory for members. We’ll be watching a movie, eating popcorn, and getting to know our new members better!

Departmental training is well under way, and we’ve got an amazing and enthusiastic bunch of students and mentors alike this year. Meetings are every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30, unless your department mentor specifies otherwise.

Saturday October 24, ausTIN CANs will be attending Robot Remix, an off-season event where we’ll get an opportunity to meet with other Texas teams. More information is forthcoming, so stay tuned.

Welcome back!

Welcome back to the 2015-2016 year! After the initial meeting on September 17th, it was exciting to see so many familiar faces and so many new ones.
